Get some fresh air … at home!

The fresh air in our gardens is safer than the park.  Stay home!

Not all of us can work at home, but for those of us who can (I’m one of them) it’s going to be important to ensure that we get out into the fresh air for exercise and to preserve our sanity. That said, we have to ensure sure we do it safely and keep the needs of the community in mind. Some simple rules to adhere to will help keep us safe and help eradicate the virus as quickly as possible.

Guidelines for going outside during the lock down are simple.

If you have to go outside go alone or only with someone you live with.

If possible, use your private garden to exercise, or head out into the countryside (regulations permitting).

Do not sit on park benches, don’t touch handrails or doors or anything that others may have touched.

If you encounter others, ensure you maintain a distance of AT LEAST 2m.

When returning to your home, remove your shoes. Leave them outside, don’t bring any bugs on your shoes back into your home.

Immediately wash your hands. BUT do it properly – time it for 20 seconds. Wash between your fingers, under your nails and don’t forget the topside of your hands.

COVID-19  is highly contagious, and unlike many common flu bugs, it can survive on hard – particularly cold – surfaces for up to nine days. Winter is its friend, be aware of what you are touching outside and avoid touching your face when you are outside – even if you think you haven’t touched anything.

The NHS have published easy to digest guidelines on how to manage social distancing.

Breathe in the fresh air, but STAY SAFE OUT THERE!
