A SMOKER’S DILEMA … TO VAPE OR NOT TO VAPE?

Vaping has taken a beating in the press lately.

It’s hard to know what’s fact, fiction or hype?

In recent months we’ve all been subjected to a relentless barrage of vaping horror stories. All of this is making it difficult for smokers to decide if switching to vaping is right for them and their family. The problem is, much of what is currently making the news, (particularly in relation to the vaping related illnesses and deaths in the USA), bears no relation to vaping here in the UK. Sadly, a lot of misinformation is also being distributed, which is just adding to the difficulties vapers in the UK are facing in terms of what to believe and what not to believe.

In 2018, Public Health England produced an article2 on common vaping myths, which seems to have been lost in the noise.  We’d like to revisit these myths and help you see what’s real and what isn’t.

A number of key bodies, including Cancer Research UK, Action on Smoking and Health, the Royal College of Physicians, the British Medical Association and recently, a major US science body, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine all support these findings.

Public Health England have one purpose; to protect and improve the health of the Nation. Here is a quick summary of the myths they have researched.  Over the coming days we will be examining each of these myths in more detail.

MYTH 1 –  E-cigarettes give you Popcorn Lung

MYTH 2  – E-cigarettes aren’t regulated and we don’t know what’s in them

MYTH 3 – E-cigarettes must be harmful as they contain nicotine

MYTH 4 – Exposure to e-cigarette vapour is harmful to bystanders

MYTH 5 – E-cigarettes will lead young people into smoking

MYTH 6 – E-cigarettes are being used as a Trojan horse – so the tobacco industry can keep people smoking

Myth 7 – E-cigarettes don’t help you quit smoking

It’s easy to get lost in all the scaremongering, but the overriding fact is that vaping is 95% less harmful than smoking.1 Not only that, but vaping doesn’t damage those around you in the same way smoking does.1

Not only is vaping better for your health than smoking, it’s better for your budget too. Cancer Research Published an infographic to demonstrate the difference in cost.

Vaping has been getting an undeserved bad rap recently, our goal is to help you make an informed choice, without agenda. Vaping deserves to be given a fair hearing. Watch out for our myth buster series of posts coming during the next week.

The facts will set us all free.

VAPE IN PEACE
